Sounds of the Sun is a fresh musical formula of the talented DJ/Musician Ollie J (former Solbar resident DJ) performing with the exceptional skills of saxophonist Ben Knibb and percussionist Sean Keenan. Performing solidly the last 6 months on P&O Cruise ships travelling the Pacific Ocean they have crafted a unique show of DJ mixing and live instruments to sculpt a variety of sound to suit many different party situations.
Specialising in performing poolside on sunny days on the ships, they play with a real island vibe mixing everything from reggae to funk house and groove tempo dance.
In the words of DJ Ollie J:
"Sounds of the Sun was formed as a festival/day party type act. I just love the whole vibe of performing music when it's sunny and warm and the cocktails are flowing. I grew up on the beaches of the beautiful Sunshine Coast Qld and we just love having day parties, so to me it's just a good time to party and enjoy music, your friends and life. Saying that taking the party into the moonlight hours is just another fun step up from that…. we're not shy of that either!"
The unique formula of DJ mixing and live blended in instrumentation gives the audience a bit of everything. You have quality groovy seamless music from the DJ with a nice blend of that real live feel with the congas and saxophone. People just seem to really dig it.
